What is a ceramic coating?
It’s a liquid that transforms into a solid, transparent and highly self-cleaning protective layer once fully crystallized.
You’ll find different types of coating depending on their properties and applications - but the majority of them are based on active ingredients and solvents. GYEON coatings are based on SiO2 (silicone-dioxide) or fluoro-modified polysilazanes.
How does it work?
Once a coating is fully cured, you are left with a very thin layer designed to be chemical resistant and removable only by high abrasion (polishing). Being a liquid during application, the coating penetrates the porous structure of the paint and seals it. This does increase the slickness of any automotive paint enormously.
What is the goal?
To provide long term protection that is easy to care for. You wont need to wax your car ever again. A ceramic coating has great UV resistance, which prevents the paint from oxidation. Hydrophobic effect causes water to bead and run off of the vehicle before it can form water spots, thus keeping the vehicle looking better longer.
